nofatclips 3rd listen: thick and dark, packed with goodness; it really put Sólveig Matthildur between those few artists I follow closely!

2nd listen: Distancing myself from my expectations, I can very much more appreciate this!

1st listen: Very good, perhaps not what I was expecting after listening to the singles. Favorite track: Dystopian Boy.

the-untangled-man solo project of a members of Kaelan Mikla. it is a different approach from the original group of Solveig Matthildur. However, it completes the ambience drawn. In a different but in a very interesting way. Melancholy is present, with obvious influences (CURE, DCD, BJörk in a darker version ...).
in the end, an album that deserves a listening constantly in love Favorite track: The End.

Łabandzi Śpiew "And it's played as a combination of songwriting pop with gothic new wave. On one hand, Solveig, her vocals and lyrics are always in the focus, which can't be a surprise, on the other, the Icelander's intriguing voice and synth melodies with shallow basses are certainly the influences from her musical background" ENGLISH: labandzi.blogspot.com/2019/06/solveig-matthildur-constantly-in-love_3.html Favorite track: Utopian Girl.

Jack music Life A third of Kaelan Mikla still is at 100% powerful creation. Sounds like a fantastic album ... look forward to the release ! OK received a beautiful rose vinyl, as touching as Sólveig lively vocals. An album that touch heart and earth. Favorite track: Dystopian Boy.

Dustfan Between Kælan Mikla and her solo work Sólveig Matthildur is an artist that has pinged my radar quite a few times. Unexplained Miseries & The Acceptance of Sorrow is an incredible album that needs to be heard by more people. I'm expecting more of that same brilliance to come through on Constantly In Love. Favorite track: Constantly In Love.

about

Constantly in Love, the second record from Kælan Mikla keyboardist and back-up singer Sólveig Matthildur, is an emotional, poetic, and breathtaking creation. From the light-hearted but dead serious first single and video (“Dystopian Boy”), to the medieval symmetry of the album’s construction (spoiler: it’s a massive envelope poem), Sólveig has, quite possibly, written album for the ages.

Channeling influences as varied as trip-hop pioneers Portishead, to black metal band Urfaust, to French post-punk chanteuse Hante, Sólveig’s sophomore album is one part darkwave, one part spoken art-poetry jams, and one part electronic downtempo compositions. Rolling Stone’s David Fricke likely put it best: after seeing Sólveig live, he called her “a tablet-age reincarnation of the post–Velvet Underground Nico.”

Toronto-based Artoffact Records will release Constantly in Love on vinyl, CD, and digital format on April 19th, 2019. The album features guest appearances from Drab Majesty’s Deb Demure, post-punk solo artist Some Ember, and the digital version includes a bonus track remixed by Hante. The album’s release party will be in Iceland at Sónar Reykjavik, April 25th-27th.

"A melancholic ache verging on nostalgia for the uncertain sadness of youth."
